On Wednesday 2026-06-24 we will start an online upgrade of the storage system that contains users home directories and all project storage directories under /proj/nobackup.

/proj/cfl_nobackup will NOT be affected.

The upgrade will temporarily cause reduced performance and delays when accessing the file system.

To minimize problems with batch jobs the queues will from time to time be stopped from starting new jobs, but submitting new jobs will still work.

We will try to keep the impact to a minimum.

Summer break in project proposal processing

Apply no later than 30 June if you want project proposals processed before summer as nothing is processed during July.

Proposals will start being processed again in the first week of August.

Kebnekaise is experiencing intermittent performance issues and slowdown caused by a load problem with one of the servers of Lustre Object Storage Service (for our file system). The vendor, DDN is working on it. 

We will keep you updated in this news. 

Due to a recently discovered vulnerability in ThinLinc, all user sessions have been terminated and ThinLinc login disabled for now.

The vendor says that a new version will be released 2026-04-22, we will install it as soon as we can after that.

The new version is now installed as of 20260427 15:45

Right now we have some unknown problem with the file system for home directories and projects.

We're investigating and will try to solve things as fast as possible.
